I take it you say the styrofoam so the bottom of the basement doesnt cool the pool, also how would I heat it....couple 300W heaters?

Could I get a dehidifyer to take care of humidity...

If you guys think there is a better cheap idea to house my huge cats..(has to be 1000+ Gallons and indoor) let me know,. I have time before they need to be taken out of my 225
:WHOA:thats sweet

Yes, concrete will suck the heat out of the pond. Put heaters in the sump/filter to keep them away from the big fish.

If you have a concern about the fish poking holes put a second liner in.

When cats are spooked, they usually tuck every thing in and scoot away.

A dehumidifier will help.

This is about the cheapest way to go, unless your a real good scrounger and DIY.

How many heaters would I need, and how many watts each?

(I might just scrap this idea and figure out something else)

I would go with 3-4 300 watt heaters, or 2-3 500 heaters for heating something that big.

How cold does the basement get? (is it finished off?)

Ruff guess (raising 40*F to 85*F ~) 12 Kw. (60*F to 75*F ~) 4Kw Insulation will be the key here.

Remember redundancy is good.

Another option is gas fired heater (if you already have it in your home) may be cheaper than electric.

Solar is another option.

It stays about 70F in the summer and 60F in the winter

sounds like you could keep channels and other native cats but idk about the RTC. lmao i wish i could fit a 10 by 30 in my basement. i could barely squeeze a 4 by 8 just b/c its laid out for small seperate storage areas not one big area.

Well I think instead Im going to build a 10x6x3 wood frame pond.

Itll be about 1400 gallons.

And this is going to be made specially for my bigger tropical fish, I wont make it if it wont work for them.
