Are there any easy, first timer snakes that I can get. I have never kept snakes before, I have kept chamelions. I take superb care of all my pets so I plan to do the same if I am to get a snake.

Are there any small snakes that could spend their lives in a 10 0r 20 gallon tank for their life. I am looking for run of the mill pet shop snakes here so nothing rare or uncommon. I would really like to get into snakes. If there are snakes of this size, but are not that great, and you know of some more bigger and enjoyable snakes, let me know those to. In the shop today I saw a ball python, rat snake, and common milk snake, all in 10 gallons. The ball python was pretty big and was nice looking. How big will he get? The rat snake was also good looking too.

Any info on anything that you think would be necessary would be greatly appreciated.

The corn snake is good for a beginner. They come in a range of different colors, all of which are very attractive and grow to an ideal size(5-6ft) - large enough that's it's safe to handle them, yet small enough to be easily accomodated in the home.

i am looking to get a cornsnake in the summer, when i can accomodate more easily then. I've been researching for a few weeks and will continue to do so, but if there's any good (or bad) experiences that people have had, be good to share (i duno, stuff you don't learn from books etc).

That ball python has got me interested, just as davo asked, anyone got any good or bad experiences with these guys?

all experiences with a ball python will be good... ive left a few in their tank for a month or so with out handling them.. and when i went to get them out, they were as calm as they always were... ball pythons are really good beginner snakes also:thumbsup:..... one question, how big is it and how much?

Ehhhh, this price is just not coming into my head, I want to say $79. I am not to sure of the size of it either, it wasn't a baby or a full adult either. Its width/height at its biggest was about 1.5-2 inches. I have always been wanting a snake, and seeing this one put me over the edge, so now I am going to get one (If I am able to change my moms mind :D ) but if I do, I will probably go to another petstore with a more specialized section of snakes and reptiles.

yea 79 is a lot for a ball python. keep looking:D...... good luck with your mom

ha i've been wanting a snake since i was about 8 and was never allowed one because of my mum, but i'll be moving out so i'll be living the dream!

Both ball pythons and corn snakes are going to outgrow a 10 or 20 gallon. If you picked up a 40 or 50 gallon tank that would work great for either species.
