We all have that one fish that we probably never should have bought/taken. Well, I found that fish yesterday.

Meet stumpy.

I was at Petco, just for Pimafix, but I saw him in the driftwood tank like this. Jagged driftwood and long flowing fins are not a good combo. The guy said no one would buy him. But I did. I hope his fins grow back (currently in a ten gallon qt dosed with melafix and pimafix).

What about you? What did you get when you were "bad?"

your a good girl ..and hope he does well for you

You think they'll grow back? Good save. They should have gave him to you.
I thought so too, but I couldn't just walk away. I hope the fins do grow back. If not, it's no big. At least I know that I'll take good care of him. He seems to be in good health, otherwise, so I'm pretty confident Stumpy will make it.

Edit: Oh, and thanks, Red Devil.

That's really awesome of you, but what is it?

I bought a FH because he was really small and getting picked on then I got him home and in a few months he was huge and mean, so I had to give him to a friend, but he has a good home now.

I'm guessing an angel.

Karma works. $20 says that stumpy grows his fins back and turns out to be a show quality veiltail! I'm hoping for you!! (and Stumpy)

Yup! You know your fish. Yeah, he doesn't look like much of anything. At first I was attracted to him because I thought he was a new and interesting fish I had never seen. Then, I realized what he was and I HAD to get him out of there.

Aw, that was good of you, especially since I've heard that those cichlids are pretty good eats once they get too big and mean lol.

Thanks, J. It would be awesomely awesome if he did turn out to be a real looker. I don't know what I'd do with a show quality fish (other than enter it in shows...), but I'm not opposed to having one.

Aggresive water changes with promote "faster fin growth"

As far as melafix and primafix goes(they seem to be the same product;just a selling strategy for pond and aquarium use.)

IMO. use one or the other; and do water changes between dosages; do not follow the directions of adding over the course of 5 days or so before a water change.;)

poor little guy! he should grow most of that back.. be sure to post pics as he heals!

Melafix and Pimafix have different active ingredients, so technically they are different. As far as do they do different things? I don't know, but they work. I'll definitely keep up on the water changes, though.

@ Navygirl: I will keep you guys posted for sure!
