I believe the problem is mostly created by lfs who recklessly sell these type of fish and glibly tell customers that fish will grow to the size of the tank. In the uk there is an awareness campaign discouraging the stocking and sale of these fish, something the trade should actively embrace.

Totally agree. There is only one store locally that will carry fish like that. So he had a firm grip on sales of certain fish. If he stopped selling them people here would have the hardest time getting fish like rtc and pacu.

Im guilty of this. When i was a kid i picked one up dont remember how big it grew to as i sadly made another mistake and picked up a couple of snakeheads which eventually killed everything.
