I Was Sleeping. Heard An Explosion. My 120G Broke Flooding Everywhere!

Is this a crap stand for a 120G? The colour is in black though.

That depends. Is the top fully level all the way across both side to side and front to back? Is it twisted at all? Any bumps in it? The picture makes it look a bit bowed.

If it was used with foam that will just make any issues worse

I would recommend just building your stand with 2×4s that way u know it's legit or at least buy a couple and reinforce the one u have its better to be over covered then to lay in bed and wonder all night

Sorry to hear that. How long have you had the tank up before it cracked? Reading your post really scares me as I also have foam under my 135.

That looks like a frameless tank and a metal stand without a solid top. If it is frameless and on a stand without a solid top foam wouldn't help. With the water pressure forcing down the bottom glass just bowed until it broke. If this is the case a simple 1/2" board would have made a solid base to put the foam on and this never would have happened. Also how thick is the bottom glass? Also with a metal stand they can twist and bend and even sink there feet into the floor and if on carpet it's even worse. If just 1 corner is on the tack strip it will cause the st and to twist and Will cause a lot of problems. How long has it been set up?

The crazy thing about this is it has only been 2 months since I got the tank.. it's that new.

I felt the surface of the bottom of the tank and it broke with the back part falling below forming a big crack in the form of a C. So the water has no way to come out but forward from the bottom.

Here's more info and perhaps the cause of breaking. I did not have a stand (thought of getting it later to save cost) and I have always had a stand for my tank except once before. I had this 120G on the floor of my room positioned upon double layers of foam padding. Bad move?

I have done this once before and the tank was fine for many years before I gave it away. But it was a 3 feet tank if that should make any difference.

My vote is for Pine 2x4 stands, all of my aquariums are on homemade ones, and they can be stained to go with any room. Plus they are about the most sturdy material you can get for the price.

I personally don't think the pad would of done that but if it was me, nothing is as solid and level as plan ground idk if u have carpet tile or what but it doesn't matter what's under it if somthing hard was dropped in it that could of weakened it maybe like a hairline Crack and it final just gave in. I could speculate all day but I don't think u will ever really know for sure.
