I wish I could pack my tank just like this

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How do you know they just didn't just THROW all their fish in that tank, so they show all their fish in ONE picture though?
Iheartfishies, are you a non-beleiver in Jap's "MONSTER FISH KEEPERS?" :uhoh:

I am not saying that I positively know for sure that they didn't just THROW all the fish inside the tank??... cause I wasn't there in Japan at the photoshoot or anything?... but I honestly don't think that ALL of these pictures of 'OverCrowded Packed Tanks' in the MFK books are phony, neither?!! I mean there has got to be a reason why Japan, as a country... gets first choice dibs on all available imported fish...(everything else that reaches the US, is basically 2nd grade quality rejects!) These Jap hobbyists are truley serious about their fish & the hobby... absolutely NUTS!!... And I think their photos in the books absolutely PROVE/display this!! leave all the photoshop/editing for the movies!!

Also, have you ever tried or attempted to try combining a bunch of various fish in a community tank? If you have done, and have been sucessfull, Congrats to you, Iheartfishies! :y220e: IME, I have tried several times... but never really 100% acheived what i was trying to go for?!! Gotten close to it, but something unfortunate always seemed to happen?!!... (ray gets bit by bichir & dies, FRT biting on fishmates, stressing them out!, not able to feed bottom-dwelling fish, because another voracious feeder won't let it?, etc., etc.!)

In order to acheive a sucessful "monster fish" community, you gotta have a "perfect balance" among your chosen fish inhabitants. And with that, comes a series of various different actions that is taken... for example; adding or taking out a certain fish(s) for any given reason? taking/spending quality time to observe tank/fish & their behavior, perhaps adding "target" fish to the community to lessen aggression, adding (+) or minus (-) fish to the group? etc. etc. Basically a game of Trial and Error?!!... sometimes good?!! :grinyes: And sometimes bad?!! :wall: :D

Shouts go out to all "MONSTER FISH KEEPERS"!!

I feel you bro.. sometimes you lose the nerve to try something again after
a failure but you gotta try again. Can you tell us what you tried and what
you lost?

I will try a MFK spec tank in the near future but i gotta beef up my filtration first.
Mines puny compared to filtration system that they use. Ceramic rings non-stop!

Well, mine was a classic case of overloading gone wrong.. Too many tigers, and other fish in there, actually, I would have pulled it off if it had'nt been for the gravel..Ammonia spike dude...killed many tigers, my salmon, silver dollars, red tail gourami..etc..

Water was perfect, basically 0 everything,(invested quite a bit on the filtration), but gravel dude, like I said before, it's EVIL!

Anyways, pics of my filter can be found in my gallery, kinda small but it worked.

Think about it??... you got different fish, from different waters, from different areas of the world?... ('cold' water fish, with warm water 'tropical' fish,,, 'Soft' water fish, with fish that are from 'high pH/alkalinity' waters?,,, 'Preditorial/Carnivorous' fish kept safely with smalll 3in. tetras?,,, and so on, so forth". You know where i'm getting at?!!

I mean, this is all stuff that the BOOKS have been telling/preaching to hobbyists for years?... "What NOT/or Should NOT do, What WILL work/ and Will NOT work?,,, you CAN'T DO THIS?, you CAN'T Do THAT?, blah, blah, blah!!...

And to "Top it off"... all of these fish are 'Jam-packed' together, in a single tank... All in Perfect Condition, no fighting, no stress, nada!! ALL the RULES... THROWN OUT the window?!!

Agreed Jack.. Well put! . Its so easy to say " Oh yeah you can do that you just have to know about filtration". Right.

Like i can tell you its easy to build the world trade center." All you have to have is a working knowledge of Structural Engineering". Or say " oh yeah its easy to diagnose whats wrong with you, well just go to webmd.com and well narrow it down". Easier said than done.
Lol! So very true, Wesley! So very true!

PHOTOSHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dOES NOT EVEN LOOK REAL LOOK AT THE PICTURE :nono:

its real
ur just a :newbie:

HOLY CRAP!! DID YOU SEE THAT RED-TAILED CAT IN THAT ONE PIC BACK A FEW PAGES... OH THE JELOUSLY!!!!
they have to really know what they're doing to keep their water chem right. I have respect for people who can do that beacause the fish seem to be in good shape. I'd love to see that up close....
