i have cut 1/8 inch acrylic with a standard circular saw blade designed for wood. only thing is it throws a lot of molten plastic so glasses are recommended. another thing i found is insure the saw is at speed before advancing into the acrylic because it is easy to shatter if you nick the edge before the saw is at speed. also support both sides of the cut
So the acrylic was a disaster... ripped it out and got 1/4 glass cut.. and silliconed in today... NEVER useing acrylic again unless working with all acrylic. Its a learning experiance.. and since i've not done to much handy stuff but surrounded by DIYers in the house its been a fun experiance for all of us. The glass is a snug fit.. i did wiggle it to make sure the sillicone got between the glass panes. is this going to be an issue? or am I good? I plan on going back and adding another bead tomorrow on the edges.
yeah acrylic doesnt like to silicone to glass very well. As far as siliconing glass goes, its best to let it finish curing, then check it to make sure its solid. If you move it around before that itll weaken the bond. Good luck
