Iam I paying too much or too little?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The rates don't seem to go up by season, and I use the same amount of power/water each month. Of course there is a little variation but not munch.

wow, i am not electircal wizard and i have always wondered what it cost for my tank to be run. Think you can do a little math for me? lol. Seems like alot though.

Just give me the rate they charge per KWH and how much power your supplies eat up. I used the watts the manufacturer said the pumps, etc use given by the manufacture on the box or pump itself to figure their power consumption.

We probably roughly pay between I dont even know... I think it costs like $3-5/month for electric on the tanks and then water is metered and it doesnt say how much we use at what cost... so I dont have a way to figure that out. On extra things like foods/decor/new fish/conditioneres its probably $150-200 maybe a little more a year? It really just depends if we down grade/upgrade add new stuff dont add new stuff.... o_O

749.39 is the new cost since I don't need to run my heaters anyways.

Please check my math.

.096KW an hour at 0.11857 cents an hour
450 U.S. gallons at 0.90 cents per CCF

not sure how you are getting these huge figures.

in terms of hydro:

0.096kw*24h per day *30 days per month *$0.11857 per kw hour = $8.20 per month.

now, I assume that 0.096kw is wrong. thats 96w? you probably mean 960w (0.960 kw) and even then its only $80 per month if everything was on 24/7 which it isn't.

something is way off here.

tanks are cheap to run, they use nothing compared to other things in the house.

the heaters draw power, nothing else really does.

but you are saying you aren't using your heaters?

for water, ccf is an abbreviation for 100 cubic feet.

so you are paying 90 cents per 100 cubic feet.

if you are using 450g per month, you are using:

450g *0.133680555 cubic feet per gallon = 60 cubic feet per month.

if you are paying 90 cents per 100 cubic feet you are paying:

60/100 * $0.90 = $0.54 per month for water.

this can't be right either?? its too low.

can you recheck your bill?

Thanks so much 12 volt man.

yep 96 watts is right.

I'll recheck it later today need to find it again, I probably missed something.

okay.

I missed 10.43 in service charges for the water. According to them my total water usage for everything(shower, sinks, hoses, etc) I used 51 CCF at the .90 rate.

I missed nothing on the electric.
