Rivermud i definately applied the weld on properly espeacially after looking at the link you provided and looking at its links.
i did use the capillary method

one of two things have to have happened.

one, wasn't sold a true acrylic patch.

two, was sold a bad batch of weld on.

what can i use instead of weld on.
lost all faith in the product.

iam thinking this http://www.mrstickys.com/products/Mr.-Sticky%27s-Underwater-Glue-30g.html would be good, works on plastics and acrylic, tested it myself.

just got to see if it will do the job after being cured and submerged.


also the weld on probably leaked thorugh the two holes i was trying to patch up. just cant figure were i went wrong with the weld on.
 
i saw a old lfs use #16 and cover the hole from the inside with a piece of acrylic so that the pressure pushes the piece of acryic out and holds it shut.

ive used #16 to seal my tank from the inside, it was leaking from the corner through the side panel its worked great for me
 
There is definitely something wrong. I would try and find a new piece of acrylic or a new bottom of weld-on. That is the only way you are going to get the permanent seal you are looking for.
