yes you get very sick! if you get tb, you will have to be hospitalized, and put in an isolation room that uses negative air pressure, so that when ppl open the doors (nurses, doctors who will be masked with breathing masks and gowns) air flows in vents and not out of the room.. thats how contagious you are. I work in healthcare, and was exposed by a patient who had active TB lesions in his lungs.. i had to get tested immediately along with all the nursing staff i work with on the entire floor.. we all are negative.
let me just say, if i had TB i would be very very afraid.
just wear rubber gloves and wash vigorously for 30 seconds with antibacterial soap any skin that was exposed to the fish or water that the fish is in. TB creates skin lesions in both fish and man, and is a respiratory illness in humans-you can be a carrier the rest of your life with no ill effects then once your immune system is compromised, or you get really old it becomes active.
very nasty disease... use common sense.
