ich medication causing nitrate spike?

Just recently added the ich medication to treat my water because of a mysterious white spot growing on my black ghost, the medication is the one that turns the water blue for a few minutes. I come back to my tank a couple hours later to do a water test and had a nitrate spike :O
A few days ago my nitrates were at 0, now its 10
could this be because of the medications or was this case never heard of before?

Nitrates are the end result of the breakdown of ammonia. Congratulations, you have beneficial bacteria. Water changes will dilute your nitrates. You shouldn't worry much about it until you get up over 20. 40ppm is my high end, although there are those who think you can get to 80 without problems. Fewer nitrates mean happier fish, though.

oo lmao, i thought 0 was ideal for everyting lol nvm then...
btw my sister has an oranda aquarium that she doesnt really take that much care of, but the waters crystal clear so she doesnt really worry about cleaning it that often. Well one of her two orandas died a few days ago and she was really confused about it. So i decided to do a water test, everything seemed fine except the ammonia level, it was at 8 lol, now im guessing that thats not beneficiary waste ?

Yes, keep the carbon out for the whole medication process - then replace it when finished followed by what should be a 25% water change. What product are you using? It should tell you exactly what to do.

Be careful with ich meds and bkg as they are very sensitive to them . Have you ever tried heat and salt ??? Good luck

no but my tanks already at like 83 degrees lol...
