Table salt is fine. Why spend a few more bucks when you can have table salt?;)

i heard table salt has harmful chemicals in it like iodine, use melfax it works great

Wow you guys use some odd methods for clearing out ich... I never use chemicals. The method I have allways used and allways worked is add salt slowly to the tank and increase temp even slower. First thing to do is a nice big waterchange. I say 50% will do. Start bringing the temp up to 86+ but only do about 2-3 degrees a day. Also begin adding aquarium salt. Get the salt up to 2-3 tsp per gallon. (so if you have a 100 gal tank you will have 200 - 300 tsp of salt) (disolve the salt in warm water first) I add salt at a rate of 1 tsp per gal in 1 day time so add the salt over 3 days. When the temp is up and the salt is in keep the lights off and feed sparingly. The white spots will come off and on for a week or 2 tops. You must continue treating for at least 2 and a half weeks to make sure you got it all. Also helps to add an airstone for the lower oxygen content at higher temps.
