My Bleheri is most probably infected with ich from the symptom of it constantly rubbing against the bottom substrate. As this is a subtropical channa and the recommended treatment of ich is medication with raising the temperature of the water, I would like to seek advice on weather I can just apply treatment without raising the tank's temperature without compromising it's effectiveness.

Many thanks in advance.

raising the temp speeds up the life cycle of ich, allowing for shorter treatment periods

You meant to say treatment with appropriate medication will still work without the raising of tank water?

Many treatments will work without raising the temp, but a higher temp does speed the process.

Bath him with salt water about 20-30 min, salt water: 1 tablespoon per gallon !

Just remember that when you do add chemicles to your aquarium to treat your fish. Remove the carbon in your filters (if any). Carbon will sop up any treatment chemicles and you'll be wasting your time.

Hi,

if yopu cant see white spots, its not ich, could be something else. Fungal or bacterial thing you cant see. Using Carbon constatnly in the filter is only good for your shopkeeper, and makes not muchg sens if you do not want to get rid of chemicals/medicaments.

For the bleheri, add some natural fungizides, as black cones or oak leaves, or peat.
The acidic helps to cure.

Buit if the fish shows clolur and eats well, no medication is necesary

Good advise. "Ich Cure" has worked best for me in the past. I believe this will work wll for what ever you have going on. However, do your research first.

Thank you for the advice, guys. I have just started treatment with an Oceanfree (not sure if you all are familiar with this) external parasite herbal medication, supposed to be made from all natural ingredients so I am crossing my fingers that it will do the bleheri good and not harm the flora in my tank.

What temperature do you keep your tank at? It's recommended to raise the temperature to about 80-84, so if it's already that warm, then you don't need to raise it anymore. This shortens the lifespan of ich bugs to about 3 days instead of about 7.
