can this happen? my oscar seems to have small white spots on side fins and no others and everything tests well.

yes. one time my fish got ich when i changed the water and i made it too cold on accident. salt and heat will probably be your best bet as far as treating it.

ich idoesn't depend on water parameters

salt will be good for your tank now
1 tbsp / 10g if there are any scale less fish like most catfish and many loach, in your tank
1 tbsp / 5g if there aren't any scale less fish

and bump up the temp a little bit, may by 2-3 degrees

I beat ick in one of my tanks rather easily because I got tips from my club members.

1) turned temp up to 85F
2) dose with Fast Ick cure
3) 50% water changes every other day
4) dose for twice the time the bottle says.

No need for meds...just raise temp and salt.

Ich is ALWAYS in your water but normally your fish's immune system can fight it off. Its when your fish is stressed from things like bad water, aggressive tank mates, changed decor, ect that aggrivates the fish's immune system and brings it down allowing the ICH to attack.

maybe overstocked if all the fish were full grown but this is a grow out. currently have a 3" pbass, 4"oscar,3x2" clown loach and a 4"channel cat in a 75. Well from overstocked given their size even for a grow out.

There are clown loaches in there and read that salt it bad for them

i had meds.

Salt/Heat therapy. Treat for no less than 14 days. That is the life cycle of the parasite.

Actually, in the past couple of years, I've just raised the temp to treatand it has worked. If time permits, I always try to do the least first. I don't like to add anything to my systems if I don't have to. Even salt falls in that category for me if it's not something that I generally do anyway.
