In some cases at the pet store, depending on their tank, I will suggest salt for ich to people whose fish would do well with a little anyway.

Ich is ALWAYS in your water but normally your fish's immune system can fight it off. Its when your fish is stressed from things like bad water, aggressive tank mates, changed decor, ect that aggravates the fish's immune system and brings it down allowing the ICH to attack.

Ich is not always everywhere. It is present in your tank if you've already introduced unquarantined fish or fish not quarantined properly. There is no dormant stage for this parasite contrary to beliefs by most people. They simply reside in the gill tissues and will appear subsequently once they sense their hosts' immune system is weakening due to several factors. Ich can be completely eliminated by completing the treatment course in 10 days or more.JD7.62;2331189; said:No need for meds...just raise temp and salt.

Simply dissolve the salt before you add it to your tank. I've used salt for ich cases with my loaches with no issues.joworth;2331364; said:There are clown loaches in there and read that salt it bad for them
