I took the heater up to 34 celsius (slowly, one degree every hour) and added salt. The amount, of course, depending on what fish you keep.

Most catfish, loaches and inverts are sensitive to salt. As a general rule, if it has a shell or if it doesn't have scales, go easy on the salt.

Oh, and also characins are sensitive to salt.

A lot of use here use Meds as a last resort, But in the last resort.....i use Rid-ich+.

I used some of the green dissolving tablets, i think they're called Ick Clear, on both of my tanks, tetras and oscars, and knocked it out first time around. I come home the other day, my tetra tank is swamped with it again. I go through two doses of the dissolving tablets, and nothing, crank the heat up, salt, and nothing. I've lost most all of the fish that show the ick at this point.

However, the fish that have been in the tank the longest, and been through the ick once, don't seem to have the white spots anymore, I thought that was pretty interesting.

as a med the best ive found is gorilla ick gaurd, you put in small doses once ever 24hrs for 10 days, because depending on the stage ick/ich is in its non responsive to meds, when you adding these meds remember to remove the carbon from your filters if you have it
