Mel, I'll try to edit that post you linked to add the basic steps. I should have redone this by now to make it much clearer.

Edit: I edited it now. Had to redo most of the article to clarify some changes. Let me know if anything else needs to be redone.

MFK IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

update most of the 80% of the ich is gone from the tems and mono but still has a bunch on the orinos.

thanks for all the help

You're welcome... it sounds like the fishies are doing good, so that's great news! Remember that if it looks worse before it looks better, that's normal -- the heat is making all of the little crawlies hatch out because it's increasing the speed of their life cycle, so it will look worse at first.

Lupin, the article looks great. Thanks!

I'm sorry! Have you increased aeration?

I was battling ich with my little orino as well a couple months back. Was trying rid ich, raised temp (86F), and salt. Seemed to get worse over the course of a couple of days. Someone told me try coppersafe by mardel. This product claims you don't have to take out carbon and you don't have to increase temps. Gave it a try and after a week or so the ich was all gone. Worked for me. Good luck

ill keep that in mind next time if i have to battle it again, but the salt treatment is doing a pretty good job for me.

Unfortunately, copper sulfate is extremely dangerous for some fish especially if it accumulates over time when you redose it. Copper will not be removed completely by carbon. About the time I'd use copper is when you deal with velvet.

Ich is extremely easy to remove assuming you are not dealing with salt-resistant strains. Salt is all you needed to eradicate ich. There's no point panicking and then dumping several meds that are harsher than salt. Rid Ich happens to have two active ingredients that are both recognized carcinogens hence why I do not advise using those other than as a last resort.
