My puffer (canthigaster valentini) aka Walter has ick. Hes had it for about 3 weeks. I've hyposalinated him and his tankmates twice. Once at 1.016 for a week the other at 1.014 for a week. He still has it and is getting worse... what can I do now? do I need to set up a freshwater dip and put him in that for a few hours? if so how long? do I have any other options? His right fin is stuck to his body and all his fins are covered in it. His tankmate Ross (sixline wrasse) also has it but he seems to be doing ok so far. all my other fish have died from it and so far thats about $200 in losses (for a tank thats been up since september thats pretty big i think) Can anyone help me?

Can you find any Neon Goby - Elacatinus oceanops or Yellow-line Goby - Elacatinus figaro locally? They are usually inexpensive and are hard working anti-parasitic cleaners.

Good luck. I'll be reading in hopes someone has some suggestions, as a puffera friend has gets ich that comes and goes.

a neon goby would work? really? i could try it... maybe one of my LFS has one... i think one LFS is closed but ill call the other to see if they have any... isnt a yelow line goby an engineer goby also? ill look into it... thanks :D

my LFS doesnt have any... the guy there recommended Quick Cure for him but it's made with malachite green so im worried it will affect him since hes a valentini puffer with no scales. what does everyone think? is it safe enough to use?

Also try slowly raising your temp up to above 85 almost 90 degrees leave it that way for a week or two..
If you do this right it will kill all the ICK.
they can't live in these temps for long..

can a canthigaster valentini? they need cooler temps than most saltwater fish i have now. i dont think they can survive in that for that long and hes stressed enough already. I need a simple stress free cure since he is already at the end of his rope.

he's had ick but now it looks like ick/fungus on the tips of his fins... i managed to get a well enough focused pic to zoom in on his fin to show you what I mean. Here it is:
