Ick problem! Need help fast!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
neon goby would be food. Your best bet is hypo. Copper and malachite is a rough treatment for puffers. Lower the SG slowly let if sit that way for around 2 weeks. id go for around 1.010 to be on the safe side. if your DT has no inverts, urchins, stars etc..... then this will be safe for all your fish. Just dont go too low for long durations of time. When the ich is gone from the DT, start to slowly raise the salinity. Little by little in this case means over the course of a week lol. This will help keep the stress away from the fish and make them less vaulnerable to reinfection. also during this time, feed them well to keep the strong and healthy.

A neon would not be food as I had one before and he showed no aggression whatsoever. I witnessed it get sucked into the filter (I cringed for the little guy) He is in with a cleaner shrimp (an attempt at getting rid of the ick) and isn't touching it as he has stopped eating :( which i heard is kinda the last straw for saltwater fish (is that true?) The display tank is full of corals which means hypo would not work. I've hyposalinated the quarenting multiple times to no avail. I think the cleaner goby would be the safest and most stress free way to clear it up and i also heard that cleaner fish and inverts are usually safe since they are recognized as cleaners. I wont use melachite green or formalin treatment since i dont wanna risk it in the fragile state he is in now. He's putting up a helluva fight against the stuff tho. For having it bad for almost a month.
