ID? Amphilophus something or hybrid??

Most of my Devil babies look like that and color like that. The spotting and colors will morph and it will turn orange. I would be confident in saying a devil. It has the V shaped nose/mouth. There could very well be Midas in there considering all the cross breeding. But my guess is Devil.
 
It looks quite different to the other nine small midevils I have in the same tank (slightly smaller around 2.5", from this thread), especially with the pinkish colour under the gills. Its a bit bigger too (4") and doesn't look like its peeling at all, but I guess they can do it at any size.
 
Amarillo? Maybe. I guess you could say it might be a Xiloaensis, or sagitae too. But because it came from a LFS, I am more inclined to think that it is Devil/Midas or a cross. It looks just like my Devil sub-adults.

As for the Flowerhorn comment. No, you are incorrect. There are definitely Flowerhorn strains out there that do not display the typical flowers on the side of the body.
