i went to the LFS and saw these bright colorful fish and asked what they were and the guy told me they were bengai sunrise or something like that what is the latin name pics soon wanted them to color up before i got a pic he said they were a proven pair and they were 40$ which was alittle more than i wanted to spend but i really wanted them :) male has blue head and orangey body and female is plain brown color

Looks like a Aulonocara baenschi (aka Benga Peacock or New Yellow Regal) to me. They are nice fish. How big are they? $40 seems a little much to me, but that might be the retail price in your area?? I bought a 3.5" male 2 years ago for $7, but that was a one-time-only deal!

If you plan to breed them, I would suggest 1M/3F ratio.

Your location says Indiana; what was the LFS?

they both are around 5 inches and i got them from aquatics and exotics in cincinnati (do you have any LFS that you could recommend?) and yes 40$ was alot but they are something i have been eyeing for awhile and they are supposedly a proven breeding pair but idk

Yeah they are nice looking fish. I have always called them sunshine peacocks. And as far as the price yeah 40 is about right for that size.
