people will say it looks like a firemouth because it does.... just like all of the closely related thoricthys species.
It's quite obviously not a firemouth it looks like all the small Ellioti I've seen for sale. theres always a chance it could be half firemouth and half Elioti but wouldnt it have more firemouthy colours if it were?

I agree to me it's obviously not a firemouth, no fire on the mouth! haha, plus it's missing the horizontal bars and the spot on the base of the caudal fin. I think I will go with ellioti 100% unless some thorichys expert tells me different. Thanks bud.

No problem. I guessed Ellioti cuz it looked like the ones that were at this LFS I worked for. Guy didn't know what he had and was selling em as firemouth. I still kick myself in the ass for not getting all of em for 4 a piece lol.
