biggles, you can't do private message's, right?
I msg'd surfnpalms, maybe he can look at the plant when he logs in.

withought a clearer shot of the leaflets i cant be sure what sp it is. it looks like a succulent to me and the trunk looks like its been suffering for a long time. possibly in the yucca family. even though parts of the trunk look eaten or whatnot it could have a disease. try to take better pics. replanting was good and 1 solid watering using vitamin B so you can start your own watering schedule instead of guessing when it was previously watered. succulents like a good drenching then almost a complete dry out. they can go a while completely dry if healthy but yours looks like it needs a boost. if the tree is cut anywhere, or has rotting theres a few root hormone or tar products you can buy to stop a tree or plant from bleeding. its like an open wound to a person. must be cleaned and covered so air and other cant get in. please try to take close up pics of the leaves so i can try to properly identify.

some succulents in nature are meant to grow upward until the weight pulls them to the ground. once on the ground, the roots start to grow along the trunk to support the size of the plant. alot of people dont understand this and keep uprooting the plant to stand it upright wich is not good for the plant. done enough times ive seen agave atinuata and a few other rot on the sides. im not the best writer so excuse me if i jump around alot.

more pics please

 This whole thing was awesome! Biggles, you're too funny sometimes...

I assume you were given the name of the plant when you bought it, no? Do your research boy. Without knowing more about the plant itself, odds are we can't help you very much. It may be that you just took home a sick plant that just didn't show until now. Who knows without more information? A name at the very least would be immense help...

Lol. Did you even read the thread title? I don't know the name look, it says "ID" as in help me identify this plant because i bought it tagless. I was well aware how sick it was before I bought. Just look at the pics, the tree looks AMAZING (IMO). Hopefully I can patch up these open sores...

Yeah I understand this but I'm thinking more the tree trunk was 'bent' someway somehow forcibly as opposed to bending over for groundcover, bushlike growth. Its even possible the previous owner meant to bonsai this tree and while wire-training it he damaged it severely. Actually I think this is highly probable. The poor wireing mishap. I've seen it before the damage was very similar. This would explain several of the holes as well as the crooked nature of the tree.

Can you bonsai a yucca tree? Omg I'm looking this 1 up right now should make for an interesting read... :).

Pics of dead flowers. And a few leaves I accidentally broke off. I am concerned for this matter, however: I am smelling a strange scent coming from the tree. I broke off a leaf and found a sappy liquid oozing off of the wound. The scent is very hard to describe, nothing like that of pine trees, has the sort of scent you'd get from smelling certain spices... the scent is definitely not warming or enjoyable but its not terrible either. I would not like the smell all over the house though... its unpleasant... Nothing remotely comparable to this scent I can think of...
