ID? does this look like a baby festae to you?

RD/Midas juvies......nothing unusual looking about these juvies, whatsoever. They always start out looking that way, and change into more adult coloration, usually sooner rather then later. Though there really is no set age/size at which this transformation occurs.
okay guys. I really fail at using a camera. Really fail. My fiance/girlfriend/girl I sleep next to and make pancakes for, is taking new pictures now.
i am willing to say this:
one of them is definitely, absolutely not a festae, no question. But the other one looks EXACTLY, TO A 'T', like the ones that guy posted on the previous page. exactly.
red devil/midas maybe have barring, but not red fins with blue spangles. If they aren't festae, fine. But I really don't think one of them is a red devil. It looks exactly like what you showed me. I'll post the pics within the hour. please come see.

200% not festae. Lips too thick, dorsal too high. The 1st 2 pics you posted bear no resemblance to Festae stressed or otherwise. I have had many Midas/Red Devils that look identical to the pics.
There are lots of lower quality Festae in circulation due to inbreeding and poor diet. But even they are unmistakeable to the well trained eye. The one that has some spangling is probably a mix.
Just because they don't look like the RD's you've seen doesn't mean it can't be one. You ain't seen em all you know.

don't eat the crow , they're disgusting!

My lil guy had red fins too, he's just really washed out in the pix I took since he's scared of the camera & that was taken the 1st few hours in my QT tank.
I'm looking @ him right not & he shows what you're calling the Y bars, red eyes, & everything else you mention that are featured on a festae minus the blue pearls mine has more yellow pearls.
I'm still convinced mine is a RD/Midas/Midevil.
