You must have misunderstood me, I was just saying it looks nothing like a pike cichlid, and looks MUCH more like a polypterus, I was not saying in any way that it was... I wouldn't just answer out my... um .... rear end, I was just trying to say it's not even close to the pike cichlid... sorry for the misunderstanding.

Hi,

its an asian SNAKHEAD, so its fro, the genus Channa, and it is from the marulia group. Could be marulia or marulioides or something similar. There is much scientific work still to do in the marulia group !

Be prepared for a fast growing always hungry predator. Do not keep it together with your pulchra for two reasons:
1: marulia/marulioides outgrows the pulchra pretty soon and eats it
2: marulia/marulioides is tropical, pulchra is subtropical, so they have different temperature needs !

And its for sure NOT a Crenicichla or a Polypterus or an Amia !!!!

hi mate did you ever find out what these are, they look very similar to mine, theres no obvious bands or blotches in mine as of yet to tell wether there marulia or marulioides, mine are between 4-6 inch,so untill i know what they im haveing to separate them from mine p-bass to avoid them being food!
