Spangled pike is a common name for any of the 40+ species of the saxatilis group pikes (anyone know how many there are now?). It might be hard to tell which one it is exactly until its an sub adult/adult. Great group of fish to keep though. Rarely get more than 10", colorful, can handle a wide range of water quality, and are inexpensive/easy to get. Have fun with it.

thats perfect, i realy didnt want to get another pike that got huge... my first pike got up to 14", i dont know when i will be able to set up the 75gal i have. its still in storage 120miles away. right now he's in a 20gal all by himself. i'm hopeing he does not get to big to fast...

he is starting to color up....

ok i have had him for a week. he/she is acting weird all of a sudden. it spit out its last guppy i fed it, and he/she hides and wont eat now. i did notice the temp in my tank went up to 82. i quickly got that problem resolved. my heater had a misshap for some reason, i dont know why i never mess with it.. the tank the pike is in has ben very established. could it just be the temporary rise in temp? any avice on why he/she is acting this way would be nice...

i dont know why but the pike died :(... my water was fine, i only had the little guy for a week. the pike was fine till he spit out that one guppy. i thing that guppy might have ben diseased. i guess i will order another one and try again...
