Thanks everyone! I love mine so far! I wish there was a way to sex them this small! But yeah mine is very outgoing and always at the front of the glass watching me and the first to the top for feeding

It's very hard to sex them wen there that young but in females they look like there smiling males look either frowning or their lips are straight also if u see it have black stripes on yours pop up for about a minute then go away it might be a female mine always did this I don't know if that is accurate but I think the way the lips are shaped is a good ways

And males are very skittish and hide a lot so if yours is coming up to the glass like mine it is most likely a female

So far everything you've described sounds like I have a female. I see the stripes come and go quite a bit

Only thing is the front of the dorsal is black which I always thought was an indication of a male?

Males sometimes obtain black dorsal fins it's a some what rare gene high chance if you see black stripes it's a female but on a rare occasion it could be a male

Here is an example of a rare male (he is behind the female in this picture) see how it's yellow with black stripes looks like a female but males get blue specks on their sides but females will leave once mature (mine still has some) but no female festae will have blue specks on it's side and females get red not yellow
