1) Male Crenicichla Johanna
2) Male Crenicichla Tapajos I
hi I wanna know how you recognize the first one as male? I was told the male Johanna has red on the top fins. Is that wrong?
Female crenicichlas from the lugubris family have a white stripe in the middle of the top fin. The missing red/orange/pink belly of an adult is also for an adult male in the lugubris family. You'll see the white stripe in their juvenile stage prior to the pink/orange/red belly/
The female crenicichla johanna in the picture below has black - white - red stripes in the top fins; plus a pink belly.

This female crenicichla tapajos is also part of the lugubris family. Notice the black - white -red stripes in the top fin.

2nd is also called cobra.
I dont think first one is joanna, but I could confirm it's from lugibris family.
98.95% sure its a sp. 'venezuela'. Johanna and venezuela really don't look all that similar. Venezuela will have a more pointed snot, whereas johanna will have a more blunt, rounded snout. Also johannas nostrils are closer to the tip of their snout, almost right above their lip.
Going to be a bruiser, with potential of reaching 16". Generally takes them a while to get that much size on them, but at least expect a 14" fish.
