well he got his ass kicked last night. new GT seemed to be chasing him some, but not hitting him. Now he has tattered fins and some scale loss. I hope he will be OK!
I am not too sure it is the Venezuela Sp. Venezuela has a sort of rosette different from the other Orinos and they also are believed to be the second largest Cichla next to Temensis. The reason why I say this is because if you do a search on google titled Cichla Orinocensis you will find some information saying they are one of the smallest cichlas which in certain types of Orinocensis I think this is true but not for the Venezuela Sp. you will also notice the different rosette patterns the larger vs. the smarller species carry. I am attaching a picture of one of my Venezuela sp. when he was about 17" last year. Do a search on google and check the difference.
But it is definitely Orinocensis which ever Orinocensis it is, it would be a good idea to hang on to it. Even if you would just want to make some cash in the future, Cichla is becoming a highly sought after fish. Right now I have noticed about 3-4 diferent Orinocensis strans from all diferent tributaries, but it has not been confirmed yet, there are sooo many cichla types along with cross-breeding it is becoming crazy.
