So the bars can come and go but my dominant male would have them on pretty much all the time. My subs would fade them out completely especially if the dominant male was harassing them.

The fish in photo 3 and 4 looks very similar to a fish I picked up from store that orders from DCT labled as 'fenestratus "blue"'. After I showed an adult photo to Don himself he identified it as zonatus. *Shrugs*

Very interesting. Another case of ID confusion with a LFS supplied by DCT.

Not slamming, just noticing.

Any conclusion on the ID?

straightjacketstar what is that blue fish in the last pic you posted?

Modest, I see Zonatum in there but I also see Fenestratum...just sayin'. I stay away from Vieja and most Paratheraps because they are easy to hybridize..intentionally or not.

That's what I was thinking too. I give up on Paratheraps! Hahaha!

All I know is I've got some great looking ? species in my tank!

For what it's worth, here's a nice looking DCT zonatus (not mine though):

Here's a cell phone pic (lost my camera):swear: of my pair setting up to shop. I'd say a good example of the species despite the pitiful photo quality. Love this paratheraps sp. and will throw up some pictures that do them justice as soon as I get a new cam.
