no doubt in my mind that is a straight up green sunfish, i catch them all the time and they look exactly like that one, and if you keep them well fed and happy they will show even better colors than that in an aquarium
I think you might be right, this sunfish might be pure green too.

look at the mouth almost seems rockbass/sunfish to me

Two different genera, VERY unlikely. That is like saying a dog and a cat can get it on.

What is yall's obsession with pumpkinseed? Don't just spout out suggestions. Please state why you think so.
Anyways.

The fish in question is green sunfish (at least part). There is lots of variation in sunfish from region to region. This came from the Atlantic slope. So -
The overall elongated body screams green sunfish.
There are other hints to something else. The darkened (nearly black) pelvic fins is a redbreast characteristic. This fish has black in the pec fins (though not totally black).
Second, green sunfish can have yellow on the rear portions of the dorsal and anal fins. This fish has red there, and also has red on the upper and lower portion of the caudal fin (another redbreast characteristic).
Third, there seems to be some dark red / brown spots throughout the sides of this thing (again, another redbreast characteristic).

This being said, I say either straight green or a green x redbreast hybrid being back-crossed to green ((green x redbreast) x green)).

I second that. The fins and mouth plus the markings gave me that impression also.
