Hmm........its hard to tell but it really looks to me like its some sort of fish maybe, Please I am not expert just a guess.
Has the head of Chuco Godmanni, I had a friend with a big wild caught pair and they looked a lot like that.
the fish looks prettystressed out in the pictures, if you leave him like a week or so to settle down and take a better picture we can be of more help

he doesn't seem stressed to me .. he Is eating well. water parameters are good. hopefully no parasites. no signs of any right now.
best you can do is snap a picture when he lightens up a bit that way we can be more sure of the ID.
a stressed fish could eat just as well as a non stressed one. its enviroment could make it change colors. the reason i said it looks stressed is because all the fish that i believe it to be are not black naturally. i dont know if thats everyone elses reason.
