Deffinite P. alleni you got. 7 bucks is a good price. I payed like $60(including shipping) for mine off live aquaria.

I'm just gonna take a shot in the dark and say it's a female. Keep her well fed and she shouldn't bother fish. Lift up the skrit and take a picture so we can confim it's sex.

Dont know if these pics are good enough to tell his/her sex.
If not please tell me what I did wrong and I will try to take more pics.

From there it looks like a female, but it's hard to say. I'm gonna have to go with female.

On second thought, It might be male.

Do you see 4 appendages extruding from the hind legs? if not then it is female. Perhaps closer pictures would help.

Ria, the cray in the last set of opics looks like a C.quad. Is that the same cray as the one in your 1st pics? Maybe it's my computer.
Edit: And it looks male. The Cherax sp (quad) are sexed different than the North American sp (P.alleni), that's why I asked if they were the same cray. Cuz the 2nd set of pics looks just like the underside of my Cheras quad.
(I've had to compare the undersides of all my crays over and over before I could tell the difference, it's not like I know much about it lol)

It is the same cray in all the pics. I guess it was the lighting when I was taking the pics, he doesn't even look blue in the second set of pics.
I'll try to get some better pics tonight.

That Cray is either huge or you have hands the size of a 2 yr old. Look on top of his/her head and see if there's 4 grooves (which would mean its a C.quad). I've never seen a P.alleni that big but quads are.

The cray is about 4 inches, I'm just a small chick with small hands.

It's an Electric blue crayfish, i have about 30 babies here is a pic of the biggest one.

Um, russll, you have a marbled crayfish(no official scientific name, sometimes called Procambarus Marmorkrebs) which are normaly brown but can become a blue color because of very good quality water.

Ria, yours is probably a Procambarus alleni.

FishFreak, what makes you think Russll's is a marbled?
