from what I remember reading a while back, dont these eels transition from brackish water to completely saltwater? as the mature?

:x im interested to know cuz I like to get a snowflake since i saw one at my lfs and it super cute
and my biggest issues is having to do the transition -_- and i got other fish that isnt suited to go along with it changes

look up: Gymnothorax tile, often sold as freshwater moray

+1 on the tile had one for six months in just fresh but I git rid so not sure how good they can tolerate fresh oover a really long period.

I believe they do well in FW for a period of time, for long term, brackish seems to keep them healthier, although people have had long term success in just FW.

There you go, the Freshwater Moray or Snowflake Eel. Have one myself, eats anything he can fit into his mouth-but he's mainly fed Jumbo Krill.

That is not a snowflake moray. Snowflakes are white with bright yellow black and brown markings, they require brackish while young but need full salt when mature. Looks like he has either a wolf eel or the rarer freshwater moray (which should also be kept in brackish for best results). Iv kept morays for a long time now.

Freshwater morays are sometimes called snowflakes. I personally hate how they share the same common name, leads to so much confusion. freshwater morays are not always that rare in the US, a lfs near me sells them frequently, as well as a few lfs in other states that Ive lived in. Wouldnt a wolf eel be deeper bodied? I dont have experience with wolf eels, but he looks much more slender than most wolf eels that ive seen?

Yeah it is. FW snowflakes can be purple with small yellow spots a well.
