id my new gecko!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wow, thanks for the responses.. i've caught 2 so far.. by leaving the porch light on they gather around on the wall, i simply walk up and put my hands around the ones that havnt scattered yet. it takes a couple tries tho.. the net idea is good. i'd like to get 2 or 3 more.

anyways, like i said these are my first and i have a couple of questions:

what substrate has proven too work best for everyone?

i was thinking sand, bucause i dont really want to have to change out the substrate everyso often (as with woodchips, etc.).. and are there any good methods of removing poo?

thanks!

John

ps. as you know, these guys are SUPER fast. and sneaky. are there any tricks to working in the tank (cleaning, feeding) without letting them escape?

Even with sand, you still have to change it. If you don't want the hassle, use paper towel. All you have to do is lay down a new sheet and throw out the old one.

yes, but is this comfortable for the gex? i know i wouldnt want to live/sleep on a paper towel

i suppose i could put down a clump of grass or something for them to lay on or hide under, instead of covering the whole bottom of the tank with it...

You can always put sterilized moss in their hides.

There is also reptile carpet, but that would require regular cleaning. Butcher paper and unprinted newspaper are a couple substitute for paper towel. Some leopard geckos also use slate tiles, however I am not sure if it will be suitable for your geckos.

If I remember correctly, they would be sleeping on the glass or on one of the branches...

those are cool lookin gecks...i never thought id like geckos until i decided to keep my day gecko i caught and i now i am seeing beauty in all types of geckos not just leos and tokays...the lil gecks are even more fascinating to me good find...and that tail will grow back...
