ID my new parrots...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So you are saying that BP and KPP can have the same parents, but one has more genes toward one parent than the other?

Sorry if it is a stupid question, I don't know much about parrot or any other hybrids.

From what I understand about parrots they all come out of the same batch KKP are the higher quality and BP are low quality and these look to be right in the middle.

Blood parrots, King Kong parrots, and Rose Queen flowerhorn are all bred from Midas x Synspila. When continuously line breeding/inbreeding deformations form such as short bodies and mouths that don't close. Continue this and you will eventually get parrots. When a Midas and Synspila are first crossed the result is a rose queen which has the normal body length and shape as a normal cichlid, but usually a mix of the orange from the midas and a hint of red or some pearling from the synspila. When you breed that back with either the mother or father there are genetic defects causing deformations like short bodies. These are called KKP. After continued breeding the deformatinos become more abundant and more pronounced, short bodies, notched heads, mouths that don't close. These are the blood parrots. Most people choose the KKP because it has less genetic defects than the BP, but it has the short body, which could have the potential of producing short body fry. Either way when used for breeding kamfas or SRT it doesn't really matter whether you choose a BP,KKP,or RQ since they all have the same parents and thus the same genetic makeup. The only real difference is the percentage of shorter fry that will result.

Great info.

Thanks

parrotcichlid.com has a link to the history/breeding of the blood parrot for anyone interested. it does say that the parrot is bred from red devil x redheaded cichlid.

Does'nt have the parrot like nose like mine, but there nice............

it looks alot like the red devil. like someone mention mammons are bred with midas not red devil so i think the owner tried to bred it and failed to get what he wanted. its a great fish. but id have to say you got scammed. but then again as long as you like the fish thats all it matters.
