Actually it does. I'm looking at my catfish directly right now. Especially his caudal fin that matches 100%.

I am not trying to force my opinion here. We are just exchanging thoughts.

1. its caudal has too little spots, in too random pattern, and the spots are not of different sizes as ocellifer has
2. the adipose fin is about twice smaller that that in ocellifer of this age and size
3. the main background color is not of ocellifer

Synodontis ocellifer does look VERY similar. Still so does that hybrid.

If the fish is pushing 20 years old, you can rule out it being a hybrid. Those are a relatively recent arrival in the hobby, within the last ten years or so.
