I purchased this as Gymnogeophagus tiraparae. Can anyone ID this as to the correct species.

i think its a geophagus dicrozoster....

Could be. Definitely not a gymno. Does it have a black spot on it's gill plate? Can you get a better pic from the side?

^ x2. You can almost make out a smudge if you click on the pic and zoom in. Could go either way though. If you can get a pic while feeding there will be a better chance of catching the barring to look for the "Y" bar through the midlateral spot a g. dicrozoster would show along with the smudge on the gill plate.. Very pretty BTW :D
