ive just caught a puffer. here in aus this type of puffer we call them toadfish as they are pests to fisherman(taming all the bait). they can live in fresh , brwackish and saltwater. i just want a scientific name so as to know there max size and other stuff.
 
just realised id . i believe its Tetractenos glaber. anyideas on feeding . i read on fishbase there worth a fair bit is this true. also are they schooling?
 
Post up some pictures. Next time bring home a sample of the water the puffer way taken from. check for PH & salt content
 
some LFS will sell them as FW. They do venture up into freshwater but not for any extended periods. Best to keep in brackish at the very least.
 
The puffers of the genus Tetractenos are demersal marine species. They're known to travel into freshwater for short periods only. They inhabit inshore and estuarian locales. So, treat these as marine fish.

BTW, the most common species is Tetractenos hamiltoni.
