Venting is done using a jewelers lense and you start with multiple tanks/buckets to sort them into. Your main tank/bucket you're pulling fish to examine from, then one tank/bucket for males, one for females and one for unsures. Venting is turning the fish over and looking at their vent hole. It's done alot with smaller cichlids, not so much with pbass I don't think. And honestly not anyone who doesn't do it alot can do successfully. As you have to know the differences between male/female vents. So I would forget venting for now.
