IMAG1013.jpgSo i went in to buy crickets at my LFS and i saw them just release two Datnoids out of their bags. The LFS owner said he hadn’t seen these kind in a long time. He was trying to sell them for 120 but said he would give me a deal for 80. One of them had ich and a cloudy eye. The other has fin damage but no signs of ich or eye problems. They were shipped in separate bags. He said they got them from Cambodia or somewhere. SO i picked up the healthy one.

It’s about 8" long. Fin tears and fin s are creeping back on the top spikes. Don’t see any white around the receding fins. So I’m not thinking any deses, but time will tell.

Was the Datnoid a good deal?
ID?

The fish looked lethargic in the bag. kind of laying on its side. Once in the tank its hiding behind some tubes next to my over flow. I’m worried because it’s staying vertical behind the tubes. Will this be a problem? Is this a bad sign? Its breathing fine and swimming just in a vertical position.

Thanks everyone.

Silver and ngt can be kept in brackish. But can tolerate FW fine

NTT ,ST and IT are freshwater fish, and should not be kept in brackish

NTT - Nothern Thailand Tiger
AKA Thinbar Datnoid
Freshwater 100%

It looks a bit stressed, if it was caught at this size it may be adjusting to being in captivity. Keep water well oxygenated (even though breathing seems fine) and make sure your water quality is the best you can keep it. A little bit of aquarium salt would help out the fins a little bit, regular aquarium salt about 1tsp/20g of water. If you can get Novaqua water conditioner it will also help reduce stress as well as help those damaged fins. Is it eating anything yet?

No not yet. Ive tried massivor pellets and market prawns. About an hour ago he left the corner of the tank and hid under my driftwood. Got a little terrtorial but that to be expected. At the moment looks 90% stable minus the danage to the fins. Its color is very dark on the stripes and very bright on the gold.
