ID PLEASE!!! Ball Python Morph

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just a nice normal ball python.

Sorry but that is not a normal ball. Normal ball's have more of a dark yellow it actually more of a muted yellow that looks exactly like my ball who is a pastel and yours may actually have some spider in it but it looks just like a pastel. Which are alot prettier than normal ball

I actually jus bought a pastel female yesrerday and side by side they are way diff. I will try and post a pic later but the pastel is way brighter yellow and has way more blushing and a clear belly. I have been told she is a reduced pattern normal. She's very cool looking imo.

WRONG. Normals have a WIDE SPECTRUM of colors and patterns. Something cant "have a little spider" in it. It doesn't work that way. Spider is a dominant gene and nothing more, it can't be melded with another morph. It isn't a pastel either, and either way it wouldn't have some spider in it and look like a pastel, impossible. Good try though.

I agree, my normal doesn't look normal at all (there are pics in an old thread I posted asking the same thing as the op) mine looks awesome but is just a normal, though I still try to covince myself otherwise...

Basically what happens, is the colors you see now will darken with age. I don't mean within only 1 year either. These guys can live up to and over 25 years in captivity with good genetics and husbandry. It's a normal, yeah she looks really yellow now, but as in all animals, the colors will change. You bought it from a breeder, I'm sure he knew what he was selling when he sold it for $40. If he told you that it was some kind of morph at that price, then I would think to ask this question. Not the other way around. And before it's asked, yes, you can get completely normal patterns even if one of the parents are a morph.

really clean normal. if she is bred she will prob have a slight effect on her babies. they will most likely be clean like her.
good luck

I swear, this is why I'm not a fan of Ball Pythons.. So many of the morphs look so much like normals, every time someone finds a "unique" normal they go nuts thinking it's some sort of morph. Here's the truth, plain and simple: If it was sold as a normal, it is a freaking normal! If there was even the slightest chance it was a morph, the breeder would sell it AS THAT MORPH, because they could make a lot more money off of it. Again, if it is sold as a normal, it is a NORMAL.

This is why I prefer burms, retics, really anything but BPs. Because you never see people posting their nice looking retic or burm saying it must be some sort of morph because look how nice it is! Because with pretty much anything but BPs, every one of the morphs looks very distinctly different from the normal color form. [/End rant]

Amen ... LOL.

I love ball pythons and have acquired many, but I don't like the morphs that are normal looking.

The only thing you'll get from buying a normal is a possible het for something that was too low of a chance the breeder didn't label it as so. And at that point, it doesn't even matter because you would have to do a lot of breeding to figure it out :P
