ID please! D. Compressiceps?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, the only other dimidiochromis I am familiar with are the dimidiatus - which I am quite confident this is not - or the strigatus, which is possible but I think it looks closer to a comp...are there any others which it might be?

i say it's a comp. as well the older it gets it will get the face "slope" as for the color look at young african peacocks...baby brown and "ugly" adult colorfull and "beautfull"

The strigatus is the only thing I can think it would be (or mixed with) but they tend to have red behind the gills. I don't see any red on mine, but then again perhaps that develops later...

Dimidiochromis dimidiatus gets my vote, even a juvenile d. compressiceps heads are sloped like adults. Exactly how big is this fish?

I am quite sure it is not a dimidiatus...I've seen them and they are way more elongated and their heads are nearly flat on top. My fish is about 4.5" if I had to guess.

looks like a dimidiatus to me, here is a picture to compare,...

Also king, like I said when I uploaded those pics they didnt scale correctly unless you click on them. I think when you click on them the fish looks less elongated.

ooh ok, i see what you mean now, i never clicked on the pic. Looking through the different profiles it really makes it harder to distinguish which one it is. Imo it doesn't scream a true d. compressiceps. Could be though, and just not breed from a quality line.
