This guy was sold to me as a South American, but somebody else suggested it's an African. Which is it? How do you tell the difference?

Hi robkob, The fish in the picture is protopterus annectens of the less patterned variety. I have one my self. It is an African lungfish so it will most likely savage the knife at some point. Lungfish will bite chunks out of fish much larger than them selves. It may not do it tomarow or the next day but one day it will. Good luck, they are really cool fish!

hes an african.
most are aggros.
but a few people including myself have been able to keep them with other fish.
SA lungs are much darker in color and look more elongate and slimmer.
they also have a rounderish head.

I think he is the one selling it.

Oh, and it looks like an annectens to me also.
