Hi everyone :)

Got these 2 weeks ago, have 4 in 65G tank are they Red Belly Piranha (as sold to me) or Red Belly Pacu???

From all I can tell they are red belly piranha! The one in pic is about 3" but would appreciate some confirmation is all :) It's really tricky to tell the difference imho, hence asking you guys.

I realise I posted this at the end of the sticky, but that does not show up in the new posts lists and not sure whether anyone has seen my post there. Apologies if you guys are sick of folks asking this question. But some confirmation is needed as obviously if they are pacu then they need to go back and that lfs will be needing a kick up the ass.

Many thanks guys :) IMAG0019.jpg

if they all look like that then you have red belly pacus

if they all look like that then you have red belly pacus

+1

Red belly pacu get bigger then a mountain bike tire, u need a 500+ gallon tank in a couple years and a 180 gallon in less then 6 months, u have 4 meaning in 6 months you will have 56+ inch of fish, monster fish, take them back if u can't upgrade asap!

yeppers... those are some pacu... and yep, return to lfs and kick some arce. 65g wont suffice

Thanks for the replies guys, this is what I was waiting for before I rang the lfs to tell them I need to return and want a refund.

jp80911 - Yes they all look exactly the same, that one was the biggest one and did not move when I took the pic lol.

Here is the 5th from the lot I actually bought, he was bullied and I removed him into a 15G tank. He is now ok and eating and no longer deathly thin .. he looks (despite being way smaller) totally different to the guys in the 65, is he an actual red belly piranah or just assume he is also a pacu? (Just asking so I know how many to take back tomorrow) It's not the best pic, but have believe it or not done some adjustments on it to make it look as good as poss lol.

Many thanks again.
