why would you do that? (not that im planning on breeding, i only keep males)

Alsoi just looked on wikipedia, and it describes what i have to the letter, a 3 spotted green/yellow fish with a pink band...

Because the only way to tell at this point if it is a true trimac would be through DNA analysis lol. And if you breed then sell it as a trimac and it's a hybrid then you will be polluting the true trimac gene pool. Also I know u said it had three spots but in the pics I couldn't see any.

I wonder how hard it would be to get DNA analysis?

and yes the spots dont show on the pic, i took the pics last night before bed, he must have been stressed or something, but this morning they are there clear as day!

I doubt DNA analysis would be worth it. I can't imagine it would be cheap. If it has the three spots than it may very well be the three spot cichlid. Still I wouldn't breed it and sell them as trimacs. Especially if they sold it to you as a flowerhorn.

I can get my pet birds DNA checked for $20....

But yeah I'm nit breeding him, and like I said it was a guy I know who gave me the fish said he thought it was a bad quality flowerhorn.the shop he bought the fish from said they didn't know what it was

that's NOT 100% Trimac. FH face right off the bat. Everthing else off too

ok..post up a picture of a 100% Trimac.

As far I can see, it meets all criteria for Trimac
close but no cigar.

U can tell when you actually know what a true Trimac should look like. It's something u cant teach or really explain. Just gotta be a fanatic about the fish and look at them for years and many many other ppl's Trimacs and FHs.

ok quick tip for you is look at the face. lol and everything else.. It is so off from a real Trimac.

Yes looking face is completely to flowerhorns, so your so"fanatic about fish" and "what a real Trimac looks like".....

Why not post a pic up off a real Trimac for all of us to see, because each"real Trimac pic"I look at looks like my fish here.

Surely if wouldn't be hard for you to find a picture since you can identify them so easily

There are ones that can fool you. But the op one is easy to tell.

U can keep him as he is. Still a wonderful living creature if you like him doesnt matter. But if you say it's a Trimac then Im just saying it isnt 100% Trimac just to share my knowledge. Because I like Trimacs too
