agree that its an alligator. i disagree that its a peaceful fish and that it only gets 3 feet though lol
 
ahh i finally see the difference between spotted and alli's.... its taken me months to click but i think i get it.... i do wish i could get it but its kinda unmanageable for me... how quick would it out grow a 3' wide?

ok in a weird twist of events... i brought this gar home today. not because i won the auction but because i went to pick up a rtg from same seller, the guy who won the auction pulled out and guy was stuck with it, couldn't house it and gave it to me as he felt i could do better for it than him even if just for the immediate future... now i just got to stay unattached to it and keep my eye on it....
 
guess i should start to speak to public aquariums ext, over the next few months and try get it a home for a yr or so's time...

Solomon, jordan or poly: is there any truth to the statement that alli's grow slower the higher the tank temp?
