Yeah, I have the same feeling, hence the price is pretty good.
 
Looks like a skinny nigerian to me, which is why it looks ike the pattern goes down to the belly.

Once this fish has food in it, the white belly will show and you'll see the pattern 'rise' to where it should be.
 
I have a 9" lap I'll sell you for $20, but I'm in the SGV

you can take the 10" one with damaged tail fin for free
