it look like a beat up red tail tin foil barb to me, in really bad shape...

that is definatly a tin foil barb....and yes he is very beaten up. i am an aquarium tech by trade and i do see alot of severums with tin foils....but the tanks are always a suitable size. being in a pet store, i bet the 2 shared a 10 gallon tank. that poor barb....but given a good safe home.....I am sure he will bounce right back and become a beautiful fish....

well they had them in a 29g and the guy said that he has had the severum for a year in there and the barb in for like 6 months so this might be the reason and i know that this may not be a suitable tank but i have it in a 55g and he does look happier but if anything is wrong with this then i will take it back so he can spend another six months in there with the severum...
