it looks like a white and black miniatus instead of the blue and orange

and miniatus have smaller eyes and heads and round tails

if by look like them you mean they are spotted then yes, lol :D

Fyi tesselata moray that i bought from swf started to eat already right after i put it in the tank, love their fish!

good to know.. im looking to buy from them in the near future

I just got him in, he is a little small. The pis on swf look bigger. I will post some pic when he is ready. He is white with blue spots I will say he is around 3 inches.

Spoke to a collegue on this ID...here are his comments..

Coloration and body shape remind me of a subadult (not entirely juvenile anymore) Coral rock cod Epinephelus corallicola or related species (like E. howlandi). Does it have a first dorsal fin with spines (how many spines? cannot see one on the picture)? How’s the end of the caudal, round or straight? Origin and especially size would be useful for an ID. Cheers

did he say cheers or did you :D

and dont all groupers have 1 continuous dorsal fin?

and both of those fish have round caudal fins..

How's he doing?

He is not doing too well, thats why i have not take any picture of him yet. I guess he don't ship well. He is not moving around, just kind of staying side way on the bottom of the Q-tank. (It is a 20L with LR) Well, I will see if he will make it till the morning.:(

I really don't think he is a subadult of anything because he is really small. Maybe 3 inches with tail fin. The picture on SWF.com looks alot bigger(what do you guys think). It didn't really say on there anything about origin, it just say Grouper and that was it. Anyways thanks for your time and I will see if he will make it till the morning.
